When Ruby was a puppy, she arrived at an Arizona shelter with a hopeful heart.

The gray and white Pit Bull mix seemed certain that a family would notice her gentle nature and give her the home she had always dreamed of.

It did not take long for a family to choose her.

The staff sent Ruby off with goodbye kisses and warm wishes, confident she was headed toward a bright future.

A couple of years later, they were stunned when Ruby appeared at the shelter again.

Waiting For A Family That Never Returned

Ruby’s old friends immediately sensed her heartbreak. She moved through the kennels with a soft, uncertain look, as if searching for familiar faces.

The team reached out to her previous owners, hoping for a quick reunion. No one came.
