(Alexandria, MN) -- The Alexandria Cardinals rallied from a 12-point deficit entering the fourth quarter to secure a 36-35 win over Bemidji Friday evening in a Northstar North District football contest.
Junior running back Jackson Waltzing found the end zone twice in the final period to help Alexandria overcome Bemidji's 12-point lead. He caught a pass covering 15 yards from quarterback Talan Witt for a touchdown during the first minute of the fourth quarter. After the Cardinal defense forced a Bemidji punt, Alexandria drove the field for another score. On a third and goal play from Bemidji's five-yard line, Witt scampered to the left, then pitched the ball to Waltzing, who crossed into the end zone to tie the game at 35 with 6:44 to go.
