A 57-year-old woman was shot Friday evening after using an ATM in downtown Renton, according to police.

Around 6:30 p.m., officers responded to the 300 block of Burnett Avenue South. Police say a man in his 20s wearing all red tried to steal the woman’s purse.

There was a struggle and the man shot the woman, police said.

She was taken to Harborview Medical Center and is in satisfactory condition, according to Susan Gregg, a hospital spokesperson.

The man left the scene and officers had not found him as of Friday night, according to police.
