Mumbai, Oct 4: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a cyclone warning for Maharashtra, as Cyclone 'Shakti' is expected to impact the state between October 3 and 7.
The advisory covers Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg, with wind speeds of 45-55 kmph, gusting up to 65 kmph along the North Maharashtra coast. Sea conditions are expected to be very rough, and fishermen have been urged not to venture into the sea.
The IMD has also forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in East Vidarbha and parts of Marathwada, with possible flooding in low-lying areas of North Konkan due to intense cloud formation and moisture infiltration.
