For a team that just won its first game of the season, the Mark Morris Monarchs seemed more relieved than happy.

“Winning is hard; it doesn’t matter who you play,” Peck said. “The other team wants to win as well. We’ll take it. We’ll celebrate it tonight. But we know we’ve got work to do tomorrow.”

Aaron Ibarreta scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns to lead the Monarchs a 27-15 victory over Hudson’s Bay in a 2A Greater St. Helens League Friday at Kiggins Bowl.

But early in the fourth quarter, Bay was in position to take the lead.

With 10:46 left and the score tied 15-15, Bay lined up to attempt a go-ahead 31-yard field goal. But Avery Elliott broke through to block the kick.

The Monarchs then went 75 yards on eight plays with Ibarreta putting the Monarchs ahead 21-15 with 8:22 to go o
