TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - The Tucson City Council is set to discuss a transit safety plan at a study session next Wednesday, following growing public concern over violent incidents on the city's transit system.
Sun Tran has been gathering feedback from both bus drivers and riders for several weeks. Staff will present these survey findings and other data to council members next week, along with ideas how to improve safety with public transit in Tucson.
Crystal Geter, a bus rider for three years, described the current safety environment as unpredictable.
"I would describe it as hectic because you just don’t ever know what you’re going to get,” Geter said. “It’s like a box of Cracker Jacks, you don't know what type of surprise you’re going to get when you get on the bus.”
