In the end, it was the little things that proved costly for the Tamworth Crows.
The home side took on Maitland United in their first game of the 2025 Koori Knockout, and from the outset it was clear that spectators were in for a hard-fought encounter.
Maitland opened the scoring early, but the score remained at 6-0 for most of the remainder of the half.
The Crows actually had the run of play for much of that period, but consistent errors and some poor decision-making cost them in the eyes of coach Aaron Cotter .
"We were in the game," Cotter said.
"We just couldn't capitalise on our chances, kicked it on the second tackle, went wide too early."
