BELOIT — In 168 seconds, West Branch junior Grady Hirst was about as productive as one could hope to be in the Warriors’ 62-0 victory Friday, Oct. 3 over Marlington at Clinton Heacock Stadium.

After throwing a 43-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Gavin Gregory on the third offensive play of the game, Hirst intercepted a tipped pass four plays later to set up his 8-yard touchdown run with 8:35 remaining in the first quarter.

“I was going to play the ball and I saw [the pass] was high and it went off receiver’s fingertips,” Hirst said of his second career pick, adding his goal was “to keep the ball off the ground and celebrate with my teammates.”
