MORENO VALLEY — Citrus Hill took its first loss of the season, falling to Moreno Valley in the Inland Valley League opener Friday night at Moreno Valley High School.

Defending league champions, Moreno Valley had full control of the game, securing a 42-7 landslide victory over Citrus Hill.

Vikings quarterback Syree Matthews completed 8 of 15 passes for 133 yards, 85 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Moreno Valley running back Trevon Williams finished with 89 rushing yards and two touchdowns while Jahsiah Sio rushed for 74 yards and two touchdowns.

Moreno Valley coach Ben Benitez complimented his running backs in postgame interviews, saying that he leaned on them, knowing his team had the size advantage up front.

Ricky Jaramillo had 63 receiving yards and a touchdown.
