Claire’s is set to shut 145 shops with closing down sales starting this weekend. Claire’s UK entered administration on August 13, shortly after its US arm filed for bankruptcy on August 7.
The US business has since secured a buyer for 950 stores. Modella Capital’s deal, struck with Claire’s US parent company Ames Watson, covers 156 UK stores, though some closures and job losses are expected as negotiations with landlords continue.
Will Wright, Interpath's UK chief executive and joint administrator, said: "Our intention is to continue to trade the remaining portfolio of stores for as long as we can, while we explore the options available."
