The Bombay High Court on Friday dismissed two lower court judges on charges of misconduct and behaviour unbecoming of judicial officers. The decision to dismiss Satara Additional Sessions Judge Dhananjay Nikam and Palghar Civil Judge (Senior Division) Irfan Shaikh was taken after an inquiry by the disciplinary committee.
Dhananjay Nikam was accused of accepting bribes, while Irfan Shaikh was found guilty of corruption during hearings of cases under the NDPS Act and of using seized drugs during the investigation. A petition against Shaikh is still pending before the High Court.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) had registered a case against Satara District Sessions Judge Nikam for demanding a bribe of 5 lakh
