RIVERSIDE — Ben Major put himself into King’s record book in a big way.
Major had 35 carries for a career-high 340 rushing yards and three touchdowns as King defeated Santiago 44-28 Friday night in the Big West Conference-South Division opener for both teams.
“We wanted to be a physical, control the clock, control the ground game and keep their offense off the field,” King coach Jason McMains said. “We got into a rhythm and we stuck with what worked.”
Colton Zeen added more than 120 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the win as King (4-2 overall) totaled nearly 500 yards on the ground.
“We did eveything we could, but they’re just really good in the run game,” Santiago coach Scott Morrison said. “(Zeen) got us a few times on the outside and (Major) is a good running back. They’re tough
