An investigation into a Closter man who displayed a pair of Nazi swastikas on his Cadillac has been closed, police said.

No charges were filed against John Kanjiram, who drew outrage for decorating his car with the antisemitic symbols in August, said Police Chief James Buccola.

Buccola said the department had also closed an investigation into who may have spray-painted two neon green Jewish stars on Kanjiram's gray Cadillac, apparently in retaliation for his display. No charges were filed for that act of vandalism either.

Police determined Kanjarim's actions "did not warrant criminal charges," Buccola told The Record and NorthJersey.com on Oct. 3.
