Adjusting to those changes can take some time, and university officials and professors say students should seek out people and places on campus that can help them lean into their new college life.
“Transitions are inherently stressful,” said Justin Heinze, a principal investigator of the Healthy Minds Network, a national program that examines undergraduate and graduate students’ mental health at colleges across the country. “There are a lot of different places that students can go to get a little bit of support if they are struggling.”
