Frederick County Council candidate Chase Borns has withdrawn from the race for the Republican nomination for the council’s District 5 seat.

Borns, a Republican who lives near Thurmont, filed in June to run against incumbent Council Member Mason Carter in District 5, which encompasses all of northern Frederick County and includes the incorporated municipalities of Woodsboro, Walkersville, Myersville, Thurmont and Emmitsburg.
