We just put in a large new garden with a mix of trees, shrubs and perennials. A sprinkler system is being installed next week, and I would like some advice on how best to set up

Congratulations on your new garden and on recognizing the importance of proper watering while it’s being established. The sprinkler system will make the job of watering easier and less time-consuming for you, but it doesn’t eliminate the need for you to monitor your new plants and spot-water as needed. Watch for plants that are wilting, turning an off-green color, or losing leaves; these are signs that something is wrong, and you’ll need to do a little investigating.
