Breaking: Giani Kuldeep Gargaj to meet Balwant Singh Rajoana

Amritsar (Punjab), October 4, 2025: The acting Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj is set to meet Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana in prison soon. The Takht Secretariat has sent a formal letter to the Shiromani Committee coordinating with jail authorities regarding the meeting.

In an official statement, Jathedar Gargaj highlighted that Bhai Rajwana has been in custody for nearly three decades and has been on death row for an extended period, which he described as a serious violation of human rights.

He urged the central government to implement its 2019 notification, issued during the 550th Prakash Gurpurab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, to commute Rajwana’s death sentence to life imprisonment.
