Army has issued tender to government company Advanced Weapon and Equipment India Limited (AWEIL) for procurement of 6 new AK-630 Air Defence Gun Systems.

India plans to strengthen security near the India-Pakistan border and at key religious sites. The Army has issued a tender to the government-owned Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited (AWEIL) to procure six AK-630 air defence gun systems.

Army officials said the need for these systems became evident during Operation Sindoor, when Pakistani forces targeted populated areas and religious sites in Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab.

Deployment of these guns is expected to enhance protection

The deployment of these guns is expected to enhance protection against aerial threats in these sensitive areas.

The systems are part of Mission Sudar
