India plans to strengthen security near the India-Pakistan border and at key religious sites. The Army has issued a tender to the government-owned Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited (AWEIL) to procure six AK-630 air defence gun systems.
Army officials said the need for these systems became evident during Operation Sindoor, when Pakistani forces targeted populated areas and religious sites in Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab.
Deployment of these guns is expected to enhance protection
The deployment of these guns is expected to enhance protection against aerial threats in these sensitive areas.
