A New Jersey woman sold fentanyl to a 21-year man that led to his overdose death, authorities said.
Shaneshea M. Cooper, 28, of Paterson, was charged this week with strict liability for drug-induced death, the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office said Friday.
The man reportedly bought drugs from Cooper in Paterson and a few days later — on July 24 — ingested the fentanyl at his home in the Annandale section of Clinton Township, authorities said.
Police were called to the home when someone found him unconscious. The man, who was not publicly identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators found drug paraphernalia at the home.
Cooper was also charged with conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and sent to the Warren County jail.
Her detention hearing is scheduled for Wednesday. C
