Trump Urges Quick Action for Peace in Israel-Gaza Conflict
US President Donald Trump has called for urgent action from all parties involved in the Israel-Gaza conflict, warning that delays could result in significant bloodshed. In a post on Truth Social, Trump highlighted positive discussions with Hamas and various countries aimed at releasing hostages and achieving peace in the Middle East. He stated, "There have been very positive discussions with Hamas, and Countries from all over the World (Arab, Muslim, and everyone else) this weekend, to release the Hostages, end the War in Gaza but, more importantly, finally have long sought PEACE in the Middle East."
Trump noted that these talks have been progressing rapidly, with technical teams scheduled to meet again in Egypt on Monday to finalize details. He expressed urgency, stating, "I am asking everyone to MOVE FAST. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE OR, MASSIVE BLOODSHED WILL FOLLOW — SOMETHING THAT NOBODY WANTS TO SEE!" He had previously set a Sunday deadline for Hamas to accept the peace plan, warning that failure to do so would lead to severe consequences for the group.
In an interview with CNN, Trump mentioned that he expects to soon determine Hamas's commitment to peace. He also thanked Israel for pausing bombings to facilitate the negotiations, while insisting that Hamas must act quickly. The peace plan, introduced in late September, includes an immediate ceasefire, the release of hostages, disarmament of Hamas, and the reconstruction of Gaza under a Palestinian governing body, overseen by a US-led international coalition. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reportedly agreed to the framework, but Hamas has indicated that discussions regarding Gaza's governance and Palestinian rights are still ongoing. Trump reiterated the critical nature of the situation, emphasizing the need for swift action to prevent further escalation in the region.
