It has been over two weeks since the rollout of GST 2.0 on September 22, but a nationwide survey suggests that the intended benefits of lower taxes are not reaching most Indian consumers.

The LocalCircles survey, which gathered over 78,000 responses from more than 27,000 people across 332 districts, indicated that the impact of the GST cuts varies sharply by product category, with only the automobile segment showing significant pass-through to buyers.

The survey captured responses from 66% men and 34% women, with a mix of urban and rural representation: 43% from tier-1 cities, 24% from tier-2 districts, and 33% from tier-3 to tier-5 and rural areas.
