You might have heard on the rumour mill that leggings are on their way out. I'm a little bit upset by this.

Leggings aren't just a wardrobe staple, they're a religion for many women – whether you're a fitness freak or not. During winter, they're my everyday go-tos. I'll only hoist my legs out of them and into jeans when totally necessary. 

Admittedly, I only wear shorts in the gym (sweaty girl problems), but what's seemingly replacing the humble leggings is so much worse. Enter the '90s and Y2K-inspired " big pants ". Cool, maybe if I'm going out in Sydney's edgier suburbs, but wearing those for a workout? Absolutely not. I'm breaking out into a distressed sweat just thinking about it.

Leggings might be for millennials – I'm technically Gen Z, so I'm holding the fort down here
