HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The City and County of Honolulu’s Ocean Safety Department (OSD) and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to multiple near drownings, rescues, and medical incidents across Oahu this weekend.

It comes as a high surf advisory was extended until midnight Sunday for the north and west shores of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, and Molokai, along with the north shores of Maui.

On Saturday, OSD said an off-duty lifeguard rescued an unresponsive swimmer at Kaneohe Sandbar and initiated CPR until lifeguards could respond. Care was then transferred to the Honolulu Fire Department before EMS took the woman to the hospital in critical condition.

Lifeguards at Keawaula assisted a hiker out of Kaena Point on the Leeward side of the coast, who was then taken to a nearby hospital
