On Monday, a lawyer attempted to attack Chief Justice of India (CJI) BR Gavai inside the Supreme Court. The incident occurred while a bench headed by the CJI was hearing a case.

Sources said the lawyer approached the dais, removed his shoe, and tried to throw it at the CJI. Security personnel immediately intervened and apprehended the lawyer.

While being escorted out, he reportedly chanted slogans, saying, " We will not tolerate the insult of Sanatan (Dharma)."

Despite the disruption, CJI Gavai instructed the court to continue with proceedings, stating, "Do not be distracted by all this. We are not distracted. These things do not affect me."
