The Airlines of America group, which represents major U.S. commercial carriers such as American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, and Southwest Airlines, has made it clear that passengers will be affected by the government shutdown.
"When federal employees who manage air traffic, inspect aircraft and secure our nation’s aviation system are furloughed or working without pay, the entire industry and millions of Americans feel the strain," the group stated.
On the first day of the shutdown, American Airlines and Delta led the way in flight disruptions . However, numbers overall were still tame and not out of the norm. However, on day two, Southwest and United led the way , increasing the disruption numbers. On day two, Southwest finished in the top three worldwide for delays.
