Star South African allrounder Marizanne Kapp on Monday became her country’s most-capped women’s ODI player, as she went past former batter Mignon du Preez to play her 155th ODI. Kapp, one of the most experienced active players in the world, has been in the business for 16 years now.
Notably, Kapp made her international and ODI debut at the 2009 Women’s World Cup, where South Africa lost all three of their matches.
Although Kapp didn’t have many notable performances in the next four years, the 2013 World Cup changed the course of her career. Although South Africa lost four of their five matches, Kapp created the record for the highest score by a South African cricketer at a women’s World Cup: 102* against Pakistan in Cuttack.
Kapp’s highest ODI score of 121* also came against Pakistan la
