The alleged lynching of a Dalit man in Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, has prompted the Congress to strongly criticize the state's law and order. According to police reports, five men were arrested for allegedly lynching Hariom, who was mentally unstable and mistaken for a thief. The incident has drawn attention to the increasing instances of crimes against Dalits in Uttar Pradesh.
