New Zealand head coach Rob Walter stated that discussions are ongoing regarding Kane Williamson’s availability for the current home summer. Although a final decision has not been made, Walter suggested that Williamson will be given the necessary time to decide when he will play for New Zealand.

Williamson, who has a casual contract with New Zealand Cricket (NZC), opted out of the recent three-match T20I series against Australia. He also missed the tour of Zimbabwe, choosing instead to play in county cricket and The Hundred in England.

New Zealand’s home season continues with a limited-overs series against England, followed by an all-format tour by the West Indies in November. “With Kane, we’re still in conversations about what the summer will look like. He will play, no doubt about that.
