Hurricane forecasters are keeping an eye on a broad area of low pressure in the Atlantic Ocean that could soon become the next named storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season.

The tropical wave, currently labeled as Invest 95L (AL95), has a 50% chance of formation through the next 48 hours and a 70% chance through the next seven days, the National Hurricane Center said in an early morning advisory on Oct. 6 .

The system is located several hundred miles southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands and "continues to produce a large area of disorganized cloudiness and showers," according to the hurricane center.
