With nearly 13 years of public service as Helena’s city manager, Tim Burton reflected recently on his role within the city government, highlighting the challenges and achievements following his retirement announcement last week.

Burton, who had initially served as the city manager for Helena from 2000 to 2009, told Montana Free Press that he returned in 2022 after being contacted by a former department director. At the time, he was considering retirement from his then position as executive director of the Montana League of Cities and Towns.
