Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched today the Shraddhanjali Scheme, a welfare measure aimed at ensuring the respectful and timely return of deceased individuals from Assam who pass away outside the state.
The Chief Minister said, “Under the Shraddhanjali Scheme , if any person from Assam dies outside the State, the Assam Government will take responsibility to bring their mortal remains home with dignity, once the incident is reported through the designated helplines.”
The scheme will operate through a dedicated grievance redressal mechanism, where family members or concerned individuals can contact helpline numbers to report the case. Once verified, the State Government will coordinate and facilitate the return of t
