But then, he made an astonishing comeback by selling roasted sausages, and his story is now inspiring millions across the country. Tang Jian was once a successful owner of multiple restaurants in Qingdao, a coastal city in eastern China’s Shandong province.

In the early 2000s, his three popular restaurants and bars were raking in as much as 3 million yuan (Rs 3 crore) a month, according to the South China Morning Post.
