A federal judge blocked President Donald Trump from sending National Guard troops to Oregon , where protesters have gathered in the block surrounding a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement building in Portland, setting back his latest attempt at federal intervention in cities.

The ruling came late Sunday, hours after his administration announced plans to send hundreds of National Guard members from California and Texas to the state, following an order issued Saturday that barred it from mobilizing Oregon guard troops to protect federal buildings. Advertisement
