A "beautiful and talented" hospital chief nurse tragically lost her life after being kicked in the chest by her horse, an inquest has heard.

Sam Young, 58, was fatally injured at a farm near her home in Baschurch, Shropshire, when her horse bolted and kicked out.

Despite paramedics rushing to the scene, she failed to respond to CPR and was pronounced dead at Birch Park Farm on 19 June this year. Ms Young, a British Army Reservist Major and talented folk singer, was serving as the interim chief nursing officer at Shropshire's Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital at the time of the incident.
