GARYSBURG, N.C. (WNCN) — A cat from Virginia that went missing a few weeks ago from a Lowe's Home Improvement store has been found.

The cat named Francine showed up at a Lowe’s on Broad Street in Richmond years ago, and has lived there ever since.

Locals said Francine is a staple in their community, drawing in customers to the Lowe’s store, and even running for mayor one year. But in September, she went missing.

A Richmond local, Elise Gilmore, was one of the people behind @wheresfrancine on Instagram, a page dedicated to finding the cat. The account gained over 10,000 followers in three days.

On Sunday, she returned to the arms of the Lowe’s family.

“She looked at us,” associate Wayne Schneider said. “And gave this big meow like, ‘What took you so long?’”
