The deadly tornado that ripped through rural Enderlin, North Dakota, in June has been upgraded from EF4 to an EF5, making it the strongest tornado and first EF5 in the United States in more than a decade.
Why the upgrade nearly four months after the June 20 tornado? Because the National Weather Service in Grand Forks has completed extensive work with wind damage experts, with their studies revealing that the estimated maximum wind speed from the twister was "greater than 210 mph."
Those winds occurred when the tornado roared over train tracks in rural Enderlin, tossing train cars like they were nothing.
