New Delhi: Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) president and Rajya Sabha MP Kamal Haasan on Monday visited the Karur stampede site, where 41 people lost their lives and over 50 others were injured after a rally led by actor-turned-politician Vijay turned tragic.

Haasan, who met the families of the victims and handed over Rs 1 lakh financial assistance to each on behalf of his party, called the incident a “tragedy born out of responsibility shrugged” and urged those involved to accept their mistakes and apologise.
