Black Mountain’s Veterans Park is back open to the public, but there is still more work to be done.
The park, which reopened Sept. 8, was heavily damaged when Tropical Storm Helene swept through the region Sept. 27, 2024.
Black Mountain Recreation and Parks Director Josh Henderson said Veterans Park is one of the “largest” and most “heavily used” in Black Mountain.
“Whether that’s people taking their kids to play youth sports or people just going out there for recreation and leisure, walking their dog, running on the paths, just being able to kind of escape the day-to-day and experience nature,” Henderson said.
