A serial car-jacker who pointed a gun at a dad in front of his young children has been caged.

During his reign of terror, Damien Scarlett targeted women, the elderly and even a family in a string of robberies across Birmingham and Solihull .

Scarlett was caught when West Midlands Police followed a car which had been stolen at gunpoint hours earlier from a Hall Green man with his family on March 4, 2024.

They observed Scarlett throwing a firearm from the vehicle which had been switched onto false number plates.

Scarlett, 36, was arrested and the gun was recovered and confirmed as live.
