BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) — A report released by a New York City Council Member indicates that illegally parked cars are getting away with it at a "woefully" high rate.

Council Member Lincoln Restler's office surveyed 60 blocks in Downtown Brooklyn over the course of a month, from May 26 to June 20, to figure out just how frequently cars are being parked illegally on city streets.

To conduct the survey, Restler's office identified 60 blocks based on parking regulations, locations of government buildings and complaints about illegal parking. Those blocks were divided into four sections, surveyed twice per week— once in the morning and the afternoon.
