Rattled Rangers top brass called an emergency board meeting this afternoon as they kick-off the hunt for Russell Martin’s successor. ‌

Record Sport understands beleaguered Sporting Director Kevin Thelwell and under-fire chief executive Patrick Stewart were involved in the crisis talks with American owner Andrew Cavenagh and right hand man Paraag Marathe. ‌

The top level discussion was called less than 24 hours after Cavenagh pulled rank and ordered Martin’s dismissal, hot on the heels of Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Falkirk which has left the Ibrox club marooned in eight place in the Premiership table. ‌

It comes after Cavenagh and Marathe released an open-letter statement aimed at supporters admitting their mistake with their first managerial appointment.
