The tears weren’t just because Chen had survived a five-hole playoff against Sophia Schubert to win the Tour Championship and the $37,500 first prize. Instead, Chen was crying happy tears because the victory Sunday at the Indian Wells Golf Resort was enough to push Chen from 30 th to 11 th in the tour’s season-long points chase, assuring Chen an exemption for the LPGA tour in 2026.
