Some Jefferson Parish teachers and other school employees will soon get a temporary bump in their salary , with up to $2,700 headed their way this school year under a series of state-funded stipends.
The district plans to disburse the additional pay in two waves, according to a notice sent out to teachers last week, with the first stipends from the state coming Nov. 7.
The one-time payouts are intended "to assist with addressing unique market needs in the recruitment and retention of classroom teachers," the notice said.
