Acclaimed London author, playwright and Oscar-nominated screenwriter Emma Donoghue is among five writers short-listed for the country’s most prestigious literary honour.
The 2025 Giller Prize has named five Canadian authors to the short list for the $100,000 award recognizing the nation’s best novel of the year.
This year’s short list includes Donoghue for The Paris Express; Mona Awad for We Love You Bunny; Eddy Boudel Tan for The Tiger and the Cosmonaut; Emma Knight for The Life Cycle of the Common Octopus; and Souvankham Thammavongsa for Pick a Colour.
The five titles represent “the boldness, inventiveness and transformational power of Canadian literature,” the Giller said Monday as the prize marks its 32nd year.
