Adding an extra ambulance is the best way to continue meeting the high demands of the community, a spokesperson for Brant Brantford paramedics says.

Brett Palfreyman, steward for OPSEU Local 256, says, another ambulance is also needed to protect the physical and mental health of paramedics. He made the comments after the paramedics services committee for the city and county failed to reach agreement on a 2026 paramedic operating budget despite two meetings.

“In the previous two committee meetings, a statistical package was presented where an overall system capacity showed a dip below 100 per cent for the first time in several years,” Palfreyman said. “This new data represents only a brief snapshot of our current reality.
