ETOILE, Texas — An East Texas student is dead after a fatal crash Sunday.

Nacogdoches County Sheriff Jason Bridges said Kaedyn "KK" Nelson, 17, was killed in an ATV crash in the community of Etoile on Sunday afternoon.

Etoile VFD was the first on scene and began treating Kaedyn for her injuries, and called a life flight to the scene. EMS arrived and continued giving providing aid. A short time later, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kaedyn was a beloved member of the Nacogdoches County community. She was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, an aggressive form of cancer, when she was 10 years old. By 2019, she was in full remission.
