LA MARQUE, Texas (KTRK) -- A La Marque town hall meeting turned into a shouting match over the weekend as residents tried to come together to discuss the city's financial situation.

La Marque Mayor Keith Bell says the issues served as a distraction to what they need to be focused on.

"There were other issues that were discussed that distract from the business of the council and the business of representing the people of La Marque, and so it was an accurate reflection of the plight that we face in our city," Bell said.

Last month, the city said it only had enough cash on hand to make it through about two weeks of operations . A city spokesperson told ABC13 they have since secured loans to help them through.
