A dog that was found shot in Pompano Beach over the weekend was recovering at a local animal hospital Monday as authorities work to find out who is responsible for the shooting.

The 3-year-old pit bull was shot in a neighborhood along Northeast 17th Court Saturday night, and Broward Sheriff's deputies and Animal Control officials were alerted by an anonymous call.

Video showed when deputies found the dog on the floor of a home after she'd been shot at least once.

Dog lovers with i Heart Animal Rescue named her Sparkles and rushed her to Deer Run Animal Hospital in Deerfield Beach.

“It looks like the bullet went from the left shoulder, went out and then into the right paw," Deer Run's Dr. Sarah Gangadin said.

After some fluids, X-rays and tender loving care, she's doing much better.
