WASHINGTON D.C. – The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has updated its COVID-19 vaccine guidance, now recommending shots for individuals 65 and older after consulting with a doctor or pharmacist.

These recommendations were put forth by a new panel of vaccine advisors selected by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. The acting CDC director has signed off on these recommendations.

Importantly, the CDC's approval does not prevent those younger than 65 from receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. They are also advised to consult with a doctor or pharmacist before proceeding.

This updated guidance aims to ensure that individuals are making informed decisions regarding their health with professional medical advice.
