Hamilton County Emergency Management will now address natural disasters on a case-by-case basis.

"It was kind of a strange event that's occurred. So as a result, we have learned from this," says Amy Maxwell with the Hamilton County Emergency Management Office.

On August 12, record flooding impacted the Chattanooga-Hamilton County area. Various departments were involved, like the Chattanooga police and fire departments.

More than 400 911 calls were responded to, and more than 35 people were rescued.

Maxwell says the team knew flooding was a possibility but responded with little knowledge of what was to come.

Maxwell says, "They did not give us specifics as to a certain area that would possibly see any flash flooding."
